St. George

Earlier this year we went to St. George as sort of a last getaway before the baby comes. Everyone we told called it a "baby moon" whatever that means. I guess people do this a lot? Who knows. Anyway, we stayed at JJ's aunt and uncle's house. We slept in, went out to eat, we sat in the hot tub- well JJ did, got some sun.... it was just fun to get away and not think about work or school or anything. I usually dread the car rides to anywhere, but a lot of times they are one of the funnest parts. JJ sings his heart out to Brad Paisley, we play the "guess who sings this song" game (only with country songs though), and we get really good snacks that we're always excited to munch on. Mine is always twizzlers and JJ loves Dill Pickle sunflower seeds, and he'll get some kind of chocolate along the way.

This first picture isn't the most attractive, but I had to put it on here because it's evidence of my one true craving since I've been pregnant: ROOT BEER. I just can't get enough of it. I've never really had a thing for soda. I don't dislike it, but I'd usually rather have lemonade or something. Now, when I drive past a gas station it's a battle to decide whether or not to stop and get a drink! I can't believe it. I don't ever stop but I've gotten close! I wonder if she'll love root beer because of me....

We drove a little ways to watch Jaxon, JJ's little brother, play baseball. I look really annoyed to be there but I was actually enjoying being outside. I think I had gotten mad at JJ over something about McDonald's breakfast.... so dumb!! So that's probably part of why I look annoyed. I was glad we went to watch him. Jaxon is so sweet!

We tried this frozen yogurt from a place called Menchie's and we LOVED it. Maybe it's because we never get frozen yogurt and maybe it's because everything tastes better when you're on vacation and not worrying as much about how much you're spending :) Either way, I love the picture below because I think it describes our personalities. As much as I love chocolate, I can't get away from the fruity flavors- I think this was a mix of strawberry and peach. Kind of boring but sweet and tangy- like me I guess. JJ loves his chocolate, and his also has layers of butterfinger and something else mixed in- which describes him: enticing to look at (at least I think so- ha ha) and a mix of whatever floats his boat that day. But of course his is always better than mine.... even if mine really tasted better than his by the end of our debate he would have me convinced that his is better, just because he's so good at getting people to think like him.... sometimes I hate this, but it makes me laugh at the same time. I love him- even if he does make me think his frozen yogurt is better than mine!!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day... I can't believe I'm blogging about Valentine's Day and it's June tomorrow. Oh well, I'll do it to keep the memories I guess :) It's our 2 year tradition to go to Teppenyaki for V-day. Who knows if we'll have money for things like this next year without me working... so we enjoyed it while we can. We love it. I eat as much as I can and JJ eats his plate plus the rest of mine. We look forward to it all day! You might not be able to see my stomach, but my face definitely looks bigger- couldn't hide being pregnant anymore at this point.

Ace's Birthday

Ace is my 4-year-old nephew, and honestly one of the cutest kids I know. Ace's best friend in the whole world is JJ. Sometimes we'll walk into their house, Ace will run up to JJ, take him by the hand and ask "Jage, we're still best friends, right?" He'll ask his mom if he can text JJ and he always wants to be right next to him whenever we're with him. It's pretty cute. For his birthday we decided instead of giving him a present we would take him on a date. Here are a few highlights from the night...

His favorite color is blue so we took him to Macey's and got Blue Raspberry dipped ice cream cones. He liked it, but he just liked the fact that he had the same thing as JJ.

As we were walking into Macey's Ace asked, "Hey Jage, can we get something from the drink giver?" We didn't really know what he was talking about but then he pointed to the soda machine. So we let him get something from the "drink giver" on the way out. Seriously, his mind works in such funny ways sometimes... ha ha :)

We ended the night by going to the dollar store. He got to pick out 4 things since he was turning 4 years old!! He almost fell asleep in the car on the way home- I guess we wore him out. I can't wait to do fun things like this with our own little girl, but there is something special about being an Aunt and Uncle that just makes it so fun. Maybe it's because you can sugar them up and then give them back!!

It's a GIRL!!!

We went to our 20 week appointment/ultrasound on Thursday and we found out that we are having a baby GIRL!! We are so excited. I really thought it was a boy so I was kind of shocked when she said it was a girl, but I can't wait to have our sweet little daughter. I hope she's more like her dad so that she's not so emotional like I am :) Here is a picture of her cute little profile. I think she has my lips!

Baby!

This is the first picture we took of my pregnant belly. I was only about 4 months pregnant so it's not too big, but significant enough to make me know there is a baby in there :) The second picture is an early ultrasound that we had to have.... it was just a little peanut then...

Christmas

Christmas break was the best. I love when JJ and I don't have to work and we just get to hang out with each other and our families....

We decorated our little apartment the best that we could. Here is a pic of our cute little tree that Andrea and Austin gave us for our wedding. JJ was excited to put the ornaments on it- he's cute about things like that.
We had a Chinese theme for our Christmas dinner with the Meltons.... I love them. They make everything fun. Jon and Julie even dressed up for the occasion... ha ha. We're making "I love you" signs in this pic to send to Jobi since she and her family couldn't come until the next week.
We went over to the Mitchell's on Christmas Eve to be Santa's elves and help Ana and Jas wrap a million presents for the kids. I made my sister Kari's cinnamon rolls (so yummy) and we woke up at the crack of dawn to make sure we got to watch the kids run down the stairs and find their Christmas presents. They were pretty funny to watch.

My BEST Christmas present, well one of them, was getting my own car!!!!!!!!!! It may not seem pretty or special to anyone else, but if you knew that I have been riding the bus, walking in the cold and just the fact that we've been trying to get me a car for months, you would probably be excited. I seriously had tears in my eyes the first time I got to drive myself to work.... it really is such a blessing. JJ's friend Grant gave us a really good deal on it so of course JJ was excited about that!
